Need

The company needed to filter internet traffic so to allow a selected department to access only certain online resources, blocking dangerous one using a content filter.
They needed to log the traffic, verifying internet use by hours, days and mansion. More, the Cisco device they were using as a firewall and for static VPN tunnels, did not allow the contemporary implementation of VPN on demand with the popular PPTP protocol. In order to grant secure access to the Web based ERP to Android and IOS tablet of the commercial department, another solutions was to be found, without buying a new costly equipmet.

Solution

Moltibox has been implemented as proxy and intelligent URL content filtering, in a heterogeneous system with preexistent firewall and servers. It has been connected to the domain infrastructure already deployed, so to use the same authentication of active directory services (same credentials to access the Computer and internet), filtering sites not allowed by the company and giving full access to those authorized, and user groups that can have access to certain content from those that do not. Additionally, the filter is multilingual and auto-updating, intelligently select the allowed contents from those useless or dangerous, while still allowing the company, through user-friendly command, to unlock of those authorized. When the company wanted to implement a VPN on demand, so to allow access to the internal Web based ERP to the tablets of its agents, the Moltibox, complementing the existing static VPN realized with CISCO apparatus that did not handle at the same time those on demand (except with expensive dedicated clients), helped implement VPN on demand for the so-called “road warriors”, with an authentication system separated from the one used to access to corporate resources.
