Need

The ITALIAN RED CROSS, Section of Udine, was in need of an evolved PABX able to manage incoming calls between operations room and administrative offices, both technical and commercial. Given the type of service offered by the organization, a key point was a redundant equipment and high availability of resources.

Solution

Moltibox was implemented as a PABX with multilevel Interactive Voice Responder: incoming calls are processed automatically, depending on the number of origin, to the operations room staff, available 18 hours a day, or to the administrative, technical and commercial staff available in normal business hours. Given the importance of the service offered, Moltibox HA (High Availability), has been implemented: the system provides, in case of failure of the device, the automatic switch to a secondary Moltibox, restoring the functionality of the telephone PABX in a maximum time of a few minutes (never more than 5). Even gateway devices are redundant, always guaranteeing the usability of the line, both for ISDN or GSM. Moltibox manages a complex multi-line fax server, both for incoming and for outgoing fax, with notifications of receipt sent via email. Furthermore Moltibox, provides VPN access to executives and authorized personnel, logging user access and timetables, and by forwarding weekly statistics via email. It also filters Internet traffic, ensuring a safe browsing to the domain users using the same login credentials used to log in to the PC (authentication from Active Directory), but maintaining open access to Internal ERP Software and mail services granted by Google.
